AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Alas, another Oscar eve has come and gone. We all struggled through the laughless banter while trying to finalize our picks for best/worst dressed. At the completion of the 4 1/2 hour extravaganza we have concluded the following:
BEST DRESSED: Kate Winslet, lovely lady in redl!
WORST DRESSED: Faith Hill (although our best friend Gywnie was a close second)
BEST ACCESSORIZED: Halle Berry...can you say pear-shaped yellow diamond?
BEST HAIR: Reese Witherspoon, we just want to give her a squeeze!
WORST HAIR: It's a toss up between J-lo and Julia...bouffant or crimped, both=heinous
MOST "SPLENDORIFIC": Helen Mirren, we gotta hand it to her...what a classy dame!

GOINGS ON IN S.F. and NY
SAN FRANCISCO
On the March 31st (Easter Sunday) the Union Street Parade and Spring Celebration will be in full swing! After you peruse the fabulous vintage cars on display and take some photos with the Easter bunny, pay a visit to one of our favorite Union Street merchants, Croll Sport. Croll is one of the few retail locations that will be open on the holiday so it's a perfect opportunity to pop in and have first dibs on all of their Spring wares (they have the most perfect peasant blouses!)! You won't want to miss out!
This Sunday Therapeia will donate all of their sales to benefit one of their employees recent family loss. Your support is much appreciated!
HANG galleries will be highlighting the work of Liz Maxwell beginning on April the 4th. The exhibit will be at the Sutter Street gallery and will run through April 23rd. Reception for the artist on April 4th from 6 to 8 pm.
Go and check out POP CHIC a music and fashion event happening at the W Hotel on April 4th. There will be amazing music courtesy of Catie Curtis and DJ Kaskade. Tix cost $75 and all proceeds go towards combating Breast Cancer. Go to www.bigbam.com for more details.
NEW YORK
Diana Krall will be crooning at Radio City Music Hall on tonight! The show starts at 8:00 pm tonight, and the Saturday show begins at the same time.

JOURNAL ENTRY: TO CATCH A THIEF
From the moment I laid eyes on the Duchess of Windsor's baubles (I may have been all of eight years old), I was hooked. Sensational diamond brooches, necklaces, drop earrings, sapphire bracelets, ruby rings ... you name it, she had it. As I grew older I hungrily devoured documentaries of, read articles about, and memorized pieces from the Windsor collection. It wasn't until I was twenty that my own collection started (with the acquisition of an art deco diamond choker). And for well over a decade I continued to collect pieces from all over the world, most recently a 3-carat sapphire and diamond ring from a small boutique in Ireland.
Imagine my utter shock when I returned from lunch last Saturday and discovered that my jewelry box was stolen from my locked apartment! There were no signs of breaking and entering. Nothing else was taken even though my wallet, a laptop, and a brand new video camera were lying out in the open and conveniently located next to the front door like a goodie bag for the no good criminal. In a matter of moments, a decade worth of scouting and bargaining for vintage heirlooms were GONE, along with my engagement ring, watch, and every single stitch of adornment I've ever owned. I was stripped of my most precious (at least on paper) possessions and all that was left was a gaping, dust-free square--a vestigial footprint of my beloved treasure chest--on top of my dresser.
I don't think the jewel thief will ever be nabbed. Sadly, there is no Inspector Clouseau sniffing around for clues. The police basically informed me that there was nothing they could do so in this case crime DOES pay. Surprisingly, I have not shed any tears over the loss of my worldly goods. Things come and they go and despite the sentimental, as well as monetary, value of my collection, I just don't see the point in getting my knickers in a twist. At least nobody was harmed in the taking and I enjoyed many years of sparkle whenever I cracked open that lid.
And while I'm not going to cry over spilled milk (or in this case disappearing diamonds) I am going to miss my twice daily visits to my jewelry box--a dear friend that I used to visit every morning and every night--now kidnapped by an evil stranger who could never comprehend the deliberate genius and tender patience it took to assemble such a quality cornucopia.
