It's no secret: Madonna is our hero. Say what you will about her lack of singing and acting talent or the fact that she thinks sinew will defy sag but this pint-sized powerhouse, no matter how deceptively mainstream, has built a career from pushing society's most sensitive buttons: sex, race, religion, and now politics. Which is why her recent decision to pull "American Life" seems mysteriously out of character. We understood her excuse for respecting the troops in Iraq but only until we saw a bootleg version of the video which, considering what Madonna is capable of (recall burning cross in 1989), is about as offensive as an average night on Politically Correct with Bill Maher. Has she gone soft or is this a ploy to sell DVDs?

Hush ceremony at a villa in the Carribean, Liv Tyler wed her longtime love, rocker Royston Langdon. The oft engaged Tyler (brooding Joaquin Phoenix also proposed) was smitten with the Spacehog frontman from first they met in the Fall of '98. According to our sources, the uber-hipsters will have a celebration soiree in the states at some point next month.
