SEX AND THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN
In perhaps what may be remembered by historians, literary critics, and cultural theorists as "The Cattiest Friday For Play Ever!" We have only this to say about the finale of our beloved Sex and the City: If Candy Bushnell is starting to show signs of Barbara Bush then surely it stands to reason that the show's Quixotic Quartet is about as cutting-edge as a pink pashmina with beaded tassles (circa 1999). And honey, no amount of shimmery foundation or Teen Vogue-inspired haircuts or face diverting fur coats can hide the fact that these girls just ain't girls no more-- their collective ages add up to a whopping 160 years which mathematically speaking might suggest, "mutton in sheeps clothing." Now don't get us wrong, we here at Splendora HQ aren't exactly hardbodied 20-year olds with Hilton Sisters attitude. Contrarily, we know plenty of foxes over forty who know their way around a sample sale and could share recent anecdotes about their social antics that would make a rap star's publicist blush. No, we are worst than ageists; we are victims of Media Indoctrination whose very principles are founded on the idea that ONLY fresh faced, wrinkle free, perpetually thin, beautiful people with gorgeous skin, abs of steel, and a quirky sense of humor can be on the big or small screen (on second thought, scratch the quirky humor). And we all know that imperfect people over the age of 26 are relegated to cop dramas, daytime talkshows or late night TV. Candace's next move? How about an episode of (Over The) Hill Street Blues. Shame on us! [tee hee]
