Splendora Newsletter, June 27 2003

It's about 80 degrees here in Barcelona, which makes strolling along the paseos a challenge. We got as far as the Guadi cathedral then sought air conditioned refuge inside a supermercado. By the time you read this newsletter we will be eating tapas and gingerly sipping cocktails on a terrace overlooking a lush city garden where we are invited to a resident Barcelonian's birthday party. We are lucky to have an authentic experience of normal life here but a little nervous about conversing with the local guests (considering the only phrase we know in Spanish is "I like your new red shoes.") Hopefully there will be at least one partygoer who fits the bill.

EURO FASHION REPORT
Not much to report fashion-wise from Barcelona. The heat limits most chicas to shorts and tank tops so we haven't seen anything groundbreaking. One thing for sure, Spanish women are sexy. No sloppy beachwear here but plenty of low waisted white denim paired with platforms, tube tops, and long dangly earrings. Hair is long, wavy, and color processed in blonde or red. We even visited a boutique on Paseo de Gracia that sold only luxury hair clips and ties. This weekend we visit the sleepy beachtown of Sitges about half an hour South of Barcelona. Stay tuned next week when we report live from London. Wish we could write more but we're late for cocktails. Hasta luego amigas!

MARY-KATE & ASHLEY
My how little Michelle has grown up! Here we see the uber-powerful Olsen twins in their trendy regalia at the Charlie's Angels premiere. We totally forgive the unabashed mugging because these mini-divas are so cute. Unlike some teen stars who show up in belly shirts, belly chains, and belly rings, these Gemini's appear in chic wares worthy of that other high in the sky angel, Cammie. The poised twosome looks amazing in this month's Vanity Fair and we are so not embarassed to admit that we have seen some of the twins' straight to DVD flicks and they are totally awesome. And while in the U.K. we're doing a quasi re-enactment of their film "Winning London" and will be hitting all of the Olsen twin's fav haunts.
