Paris is sizzling with sales this month (not that we've had any time to shop) and the city is packed with fashionistas who are here for the couture shows, as well as patriots preparing for Bastille Day on Monday. Yesterday we ran into Christian Louboutin at his charming boutique near the Louvre and teased him about his recent worldwide fame. He was as cute as ever in his Birkenstocks and white jeans. Earlier this week we spied Matrix matinee idol Keanu Reeves who is also staying at the Ritz (Yes, he is a babe. No, I didn't have my camera). And on the way to the Hotel Costes for dinner the other night we stood at a stoplight next to Blythe Danner, mother of you-know-who. Blythe and Gwyn were spotted front and center at the best show of the season: Valentino. You are sure to see his stunning, sparkly collection on American starlets this Fall.

FROM LONDON TO PARIS
Let's see just to recap: Last Friday was spent on the glorious grounds of Cliveden, which is a manor house straight out of Remains of the Day but better if you can imagine. After a week in London and two dinners at Nobu where we unsuccessfully tried to get a peek of Beyoncee at the Met Bar, we chunneled it over to Paris where we've been camped out at The Ritz on Place Vendome. Below is a stream of (fashion) consciousness reflections on what we've noticed in the past few weeks a l'Europe:
1. The color white is ubiquitous: shoes, dresses, blouses, sunglasses, belts.
Anybody with two fashion cents has known that the Eighties have been trying to make a comeback for years but, get ready girls because, this time it's really going to happen. Think wide hip belts with huge, gaudy buckles slung around zip up pantsuits and army style dresses that resemble elegant field jackets.
b. Unfortunately cargo pants are still de riguer and are worn in silk, tie dye, capri style.
It looks like liquid black eyeliner might rear its ugly head in the Fall but thankfully lip gloss is bigger than ever (couldn't have survived without my Water My Melon from thebalm!) and should absolutely be worn by women over 50 to brighten the center of the face. This is a discovery I made by giving my friend's 60 year old mother a tube. She looked fabulous!
As we wind down our European extravaganza with a glass of chilled Brouilly in the garden of the Ritz, we bid you a fond adieu and look forward to reacclimating chez nous.

GARNER'S GOT THE GOODS
The oft ogled Jennifer Garner is more than just a lean, mean action supah star, she's also been moonlighting as a shoe designer for NIKE. The shoe guru took note of Jen's dedication to her health and wellness (she gets up at 4:30 for her workouts) and asked her to lend her athletic know-how and style prowess to reinterpret the NIKE Shox NZ running shoe.
