Greetings from the frozen apple! We report live from our suite at the Royalton in Manhattan where we furiously type away on our laptops in front of a roaring fireplace in our room. It's been a fabulous week despite the cold (and the fact that our HQ in SF reports 80 degree weather) but we've met many wonderful people and will have a surprise celebrity forecaster for you very, very soon (hint: she's a true fashion icon).

WEEK IN REVIEW: NEW YORK STORIES
I arrived from France jet lagged and forlorn. Fashion week in Paris had been an absolute whirlwind and Sunday night in Manhattan (icy stillness combined with the fact that I was missing the season premiere of the Sopranos) was almost more than I could bear. While my West Coast compatriots gushed about the early arrival of summer in the City, Amy and I layered ourselves in tights, woolen socks, boots, scarves, and heavy winter coats to brave the brisk apple.
One miserable, rainy afternoon we ducked into the aptly named Haven spa in Soho to wait out the weather with a much needed manicure. It was here we ran into the gorgeous former supermodel Frederique Vanderwaal of Victoria Secret fame and even had a "moment" with her when she sympathized with our drowned rat look. And that was just the beginning of our week.
More tales of the city are coming your way but for now I have to sign off because the enthusiastic gate agents (it's 6am) are telling me it's final boarding call. Thus begins my journey back to sunny SF where my first weekend home will be spent watching TiVo-ed O.C. and Apprentice episodes and cooking up some serious dish for next week's Friday ForPlay. Splendora certainly has some surprises in store....
