FAREWELL TO THE FUNK
The super-freakiest of the freaky has left the building. With the copious amounts of illegal substances that have been swimming around in his bloodstream for all of these years it's amazing that he even survived to hear "U Can't Touch This." With a life that was both triumphant and sordid, this king of the glitter weave managed to come out on top, no matter if he wore heinous red leather ensembles or produced zingers like Eddie Murphy's "Party all the Time." He's even been posthumously showing up in the gossip columns due to Andy Dick's tearful rant about the death of his "best friend Rick James" (more on this scene below.) His storied career left us with good tunes, one of the best Behind the Music episodes ever, and a helluva cameo on Chapelle's Show. Long live the Super Freak.

THE TERRY THAT KEEPS ON TICKING
The velour sweatsuit backlash aside, the Juicy's have remained the queen bees of casual chic. Best friends and founders Pam Skaist-Levy and Gela Taylor (ahem, Mrs. John Taylor) turned their love of cheeky clothes into a mega label that is unabashedly irresistible. Even if the brand has been adopted as the unofficial uniform of the tween set, the Juicy gals still inspire the cream of the crop to wear their terry and attend their events. The A-list attendees at their recent swimwear launch included groovy style mavens like Kate Bosworth, Venus and Serena, Selma Blair, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. In our eyes, what makes the Juicy's so delicious is that like us Splendorians, they too find the joy in dressing alike and making everyone feel welcome in their club. Plus, you've got to love a girl who growing up worshipped Duran Duran and ended up marrying the cutest Duran of all.
