Happy August, lady friends! With summer coming to a close, it's time
to start daydreaming about pinafore jumpers, Trapper Keepers, round-toe
boots, and crisp walks in the park alongside some hunk of a L.L.
Bean-clad man. However, this seems like a far-fetched thought when all
we're doing is drowning in a sea of oppressive heat and hair-raising
humidity. Oh well, a girl can dream, can't she?

YOU LIKE IT, YOU REALLY, REALLY LIKE IT!
In the somewhat altered words of Sally Field, "Hollywood likes the Handheld, they really, really like it!" Much to our surprise, we received another celeb thank you note from Oscar winner, Renée Zellweger. Holy Moses are we excited! First the fabulous Courteney Cox told us she dug the book, but then Renée too? Double wow. We gotta say, these southen belles (Court is from Alabama and Renée is from Texas) have the best manners around town.

LOVELY IN LINEN
Not since Richard Gere in American Gigolo (make sure to click on "watch trailer") has a linen "suit" looked so goddamn fine. What was once thought to be a schlocky, only seen on cheesy dads and dudes in Miami, material, comes back into fashion looking chic and classy courtesy of that magpie we all love, Kate Moss. Now, don't go and try to pull off wearing this outfit to a wedding like Kate did last weekend; you will look dumb. Yes, Lohan and Richie, we're talking to you- even though you know Kate and, like, totally feel her "style vibe," don't even dare to wear. This outfit has all the makings of a fashion don't: it looks like something circa '92, it has pleats, it includes a porkpie-esque hat, and you know that thing wrinkles something fierce when you sit down to guzzle your G&T. But hey, Moss makes it look marvelous. That's why homie can shove a $20 up her schnozz and still get hired to be in every big brand campaign under the sun.

WIKI-WIKI: POP CULTURE REMIX
Monday's "Word" on The Colbert Report was "Wikiality" - a derivative of " Truthiness" related to the internet phenomenon known as Wikipedia. Anyone can log onto Wikipedia, publish and/or edit an article, and if enough users agree, it becomes Truth (capital "T"). Kinda scary, but also sort of a cool concept if you're looking to rewrite internet ordained history. We here at Splendora got to thinking about which parts of the pop culture records we might want to tweak, so we sat down, rifled through some articles, and came up with a few fairytales of our own. First, we'd revoke recent arrestee Mel Gibson's "Sexiest Man Alive" title, and his Oscar, too (Braveheart wasn't all that). If there was an Oscar for Best Bonkers Performance, he'd win it for his now infamous DUI arrest last week. Next, we'd edit Lindsay Lohan's article, adding a blurb about her getting fired from the set of Georgia Rule. [...]
