| Part of team Splendora is down in L.A. making the rounds checking out the Golden Globes gift suites. While we did not see anyone super famous (does Hercules' Kevin Sorbo count?) loading up on swag, we are heading to a premier suite sponsored by In Style later this afternoon. We'll give you the lowdown on all of our adventures upon our return to Nor Cal. Stay warm this weekend! |

WHEN IN ROME... HBO has yet to let us down when it comes to our Sunday evening lineup. We've lauded choice viewing material like Six Feet Under and The Sopranos in the past, and we're adding Rome to our list of champion shows. It's epic drama at its finest: think love, corruption, battle, and betrayal, all set against the backdrop of the rise of an empire. Water cooler talk on Monday morning won't be the same after tuning in; you'll impress your officemates with the historical tidbits you've picked up, plus have plenty of exciting plot points to dish on. So, when in Splendora-land, do as we do; tune into Rome this Sunday, January 14th, at 9:00 PM Eastern/Pacific for the kind of drama every girl wants in her life.

90s NOSTALGIA Guilty as charged: we write about Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and their pathetic contemporaries far too much. We blame the current entertainment climate, which is more trash-centric and less focused on actors and what they do best. Our longing for thespians who possess talent outside of bar and bed hopping led us to reminisce on stars we love who have basically vanished from public view. The early '90s in particular were bursting with loveable entertainers, including Michelle Pfeiffer, the reigining queen of her time. But as the quality of her work declined - sliding from The Age of Innocence to One Fine Day - so, too, did her visibility. Fingers crossed, Pfeiffer's upcoming turn as Velma in Hairspray will have her gracing the covers of top fashion magazines once again. (The Julianne Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman triad of covergirls is getting tiresome.) Her former co-star, Michael Keaton, is in desperate need of a career resurrection as well. He's still oddly sexy, has a smoldering quality about him, and is a better actor than films like Herbie: Fully Loaded would lead you to believe. And Winona Ryder, who will forever be Lelaina to us, hasn't garnered much attention other than her Marc Jacobs-fueled spree at Saks a couple years back. Maybe they've made some not-so-smart movie and/or life choices lately, but they sure as hell beat out folks like Sienna Miller, Wilmer Valderrama, and Hayden Christensen (who's getting inexplicably more annoying) in the likeability department. Gosh, who would've thought we would be pining for an age when grungy denim vests, big hair, and - gasp - even Demi Moore in biker shorts were hot? *Photos licensed by: Photorazzi

EXTRA! EXTRA! POSH & BECKS CRUISE TO L.A. The world just got wind that the overexposed, oversaturated, overrated, and just plain "over" couple, Posh n' Becks, are making the move across the pond. Sir Becks just picked up a multi-million dollar contract with the L.A. Galaxy soccer squad. It's no surprise that this vain duo is finally setting up shop in L.A.; it was inevitable. The seeds were planted a few months back when Posh seemingly camped out with Kate Cruise at Barneys. Truth is, Becks ain't getting any younger and wants to live out his golden years of soccer stardom in the Golden State. She's simply along for the paparazzi-chasing ride. So in due time we'll see tab coverage of her every move - from Kitson to the Ivy to her 16-inch waist, we're going to get it all, ad nauseum. But we wonder, since we already have a weekly magazine hog (Paris), can this country handle two tabloid queens? We shall see.
