Splendora HQ is a veritable hospital ward. There's coughing, hacking, and general malaise. Truthfully, we should all be wearing
Michael Jackson-style surgical masks. You name it, we got it: sinus infection, tickle in the throat, and not to be forgotten, the fast-acting
pneumonia death plague.
So take it from this ragtag bunch - get a lot of rest, drink your
juice, and if you do go out to whoop it up, just be careful not to
overindulge or you may end up with a case of whooping cough. We need to
be in tip-top shape for Valentine's Day. |

PARTY FAVORS & FOULS
After
the long, exhausting holiday season, people are finally ready to hop
back on the party train. We've got some basic tips on how to be a
stellar party playa. All aboard? Choo-choo! 1. Show up in a timely manner:
Fashionably late can be tolerated, a half-hour early is considered
tacky (unless you are arranging snacks and centerpieces), and coming
when the host is closing up shop is a no-no. 2. Never arrive empty-handed:
Booze is best, homemade baked goods work, or a small gift will suffice.
Even if you pick up packs of candy from the local bodega, come to the
door bearing something. It is de rigueur. 3. You break, you buy:
If you bust their place, you best be replacing what you done tore up.
If the host is hell-bent on refusing your cash-money, make sure to send
a large bouquet of flowers. 4. Don't smoke inside: C'mon geniuses, this one is obvious. 5. Entertain the crowd:
Now, this may not always fly, but getting on the iPod turntables for a
bit to get the gang moving is cool. Performing a dance routine rocks.
And forming a "band" complete with cardboard instruments (example
above) is over-the-top awesome. 6. Do some light housework:
Cleaning up after a wild night is a bummer. Help your buddy out and try
to place your empties in one area and sop up any wayward spills with a
paper towel. 7. Call the next day: They hosted you at their
pad all night and piled you with food and drink. The least you can do
is pick up the tele and give a heartfelt "Thanks".
