"A La Cart," by Hilary Carlip

I heart Hilary Carlip. She was in "Xanadu," she won the grand prize in the Gong Show for her juggling prowess, and she's an out and out cool chick. I am so excited about her new book, "A La Cart." Part humor writing, part performance art, the book features a bunch of strangers' shopping lists Carlip has collected over the years along with photos of her dressed up as the people she envisioned writing these lists. This includes everything from a redneck to a goth boy. Accompanying the photos and lists are narratives written in the voices of these alter-egos. You may never leave your list behind after reading this book … or maybe you will just to see what happens. 04.07.2008
