Kelly Wearstler Opens L.A. Boutique

Interior designer, fashion designer, television personality, and seeming all-around Renaissance woman Kelly Wearstler recently opened a boutique on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, much to the delight of her design-centric legion of fans. Carrying her signature collection of clothing and housewares, it is a virtual shrine to the best of the "Wearst": from textured scarves to sculptural miscellany, here you'll find a selection of goods bearing Wearstler's signature outlandish flair. Scratch-Off Wall Map

Scratch-Off Wall Map

We often write about what fantastic home decor maps make, and this scratch-off version from Flight 001 is the latest covet worthy version we've stumbled across. Countries on the map are overlaid with lottery ticket-like gold that you scratch to mark places visited, making it one winner of a gift for avid globetrotters.

Destination Spotlight: fonuts, Los Angeles

Destination Spotlight: fonuts, Los Angeles

Culinary trends, like all trends in sun drenched La-La Land, undergo such rapid turnover that it's difficult to know whether foams, fusion, or food trucks are what's hot during any given week. Add one more non-expletive "F" to that list: fonuts. Baked and ostensibly "healthier" than their deep-fried counterparts, the goods at this sweet shop are no less tasty than Krispy Kremes. In fact, we think they're even more lip lickingly good after having sampled four varieties: maple-bacon, strawberry, caramel, and gluten-free pumpkin. Located on buzzy 3rd Street, make sure to stop by after shopping at Satine or grabbing lunch at Joan's on Third.

Gidsy

Gidsy

Gidsy is a e-commerce site dedicated to the sale of  experiences, from small group yoga classes to neighborhood walking tours, all priced at a pittance and hosted by city dwellers in the know. Launched in Berlin and still in its nascency, you can expect to see a New York version very soon in addition to other worldwide locations. The clever concept is a boon for locals and travelers alike, allowing activity oriented explorers the chance to delve into a city's social fabric in hyper-local, ultra unique ways. Check out what our friends across the pond have to offer and keep an eye out for U.S. regions in the near future.

Destination Spotlight: Annenberg Space for Photography, Los Angeles

Destination Spotlight: Annenberg Space for Photography, Los Angeles

Anyone perpetuating the myth that Los Angeles is a land of style over substance, vacuity over intelligence, should seriously question their beliefs. The Annenberg Space for Photography, located adjacent to Century City's CAA fortress (er, building), is a testament to the city's cultural richness. The space hosts impressive photography exhibitions, including work from the annual Picture of the Year photojournalism competition.

The current show, Beauty CULTure, focuses on "notions of modern female beauty" and includes challenging and controversial work from talented provocateurs. For more insight into the exhibition, sign up for one of the Annenberg's IRIS night lectures. Spaces fill up quickly, so book as soon as reservations open.
