If you want to actively experience the Zen of nature, this is a good place to start. We think of A16 as the "Nordstrom" of camping, backpacking, and rock climbing outfitters. The store is filled with quality equipment from Marmot, Patagonia, and Moonstone, among others. The staff is experience in the outdoors and eager to share their wisdom. Unfortunately, A16 doesn't cover everything--they have clothes for skiing, but not the skis. A16 does host numerous excursions and trips throughout the year, however. Beginning rock climbing? They've got a class. Want to photograph nature? They'll teach you how. Want to go backpacking? They'll take you. You can even rent the equipment you'll need. One stop here and there'll be no excuse to not answer when nature calls.
