It's not really fair to state that the bungalow where Chaz Dean performs his cut and color wizardry is a former home that's been converted to a salon, because this studio maintains (and champions) a home-y vibe far too delicious to gloss over. That said, what's happening under those foils on your head--while your feet peruse the private gardens or drape languidly over the velvet ottoman--is what really caught our recommendation. Dean is your hair's knight in shining armor, able to custom blend color (NEVER integrity-stripping bleach) and client/color-specific "remoist" treatments in such a way that hair is genuinely healthier than it ever was au naturel. His colors make your regrowth less obvious, and his palette even lets new blondes escape the post-salon dreaded 'yellow peril' that usually appears somewhere around week four. While Chaz's perfect coifs are inimitable (don't expect to get your stellar 'do here and then have it copied elsewhere), everyone under this beatific roof trains with the guru himself, so we can confidently recommend any pro in the Dean 'family-and particularly like the uber-talents of Flavia and Mark. Everyone plays colorist as well as stylist (and uses Chaz's magical WEN products), so you get rest your head--from color palette to cutting shears--in one set of extraordinary hands.
