With one foot in the door, the perfume of vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate, and walnuts surrounds you like a cocoon. The pecan squares are decadent, the chocolate chip cookies legendary, and the tart tatin divine. It seems wrong that L.A. Desserts, swathed in bright Tuscan yellow walls, vintage chintz, and fresh flowers, is a carry-out bakery. If you come late enough to miss the lunch crowd, you might convince the staff to let you stay long enough to enjoy your confection--but don't count on it.
