This year marks the 20th anniversary of l.a. Eyeworks. Back in the day of glasses-as-medical-device, Gai Gherardi and Barbara McReynolds decided to make them into accessories. They made a big splash with outrageous ones for Elton John's shows in the early '80s. This summer at the movies, their designs can be seen perched on the noses of Rene Russo in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Meg Ryan in Proof Of Life . l.a. Eyeworks also carries many avant garde Japanese and European designers, and all lenses are fabricated in their own workrooms.
