Spago Beverly Hills
Everyone knows that Wolfgang Puck, Spago chef extraordinaire, is the founding father of California Cuisine. This is the guy who single-handedly started the '80s menu trend of having Asian-esque treats like Roasted Cantonese duck with bing cherries and mint ($26) on the same menu with goat cheese pizzas ($14.50) and Caesar salads ($9.50). Though Puck basks in the fame 'n' glory of his multitude of restaurants and expensive line of frozen pizzas, he still devotes enough attention to this insanely famous eatery to keep the cuisine quite tasty. Praise for eclectic fare and criticism of outlandish prices aside, those who have never heard of this celebrity magnet (read: those who never dine out, read, or watch TV) know that Spago is synonymous with "Hollywood Player." We wager that 99% of all checks are picked-up by studio expense accounts.
