The Standard
Watch out--when the frosted glass doors slide open to The Standard, time suddenly warps and you're launched into a new and inexplicable dimension. The lobby has 2001-style bubble chairs that hang from the ceiling and a seating area reminiscent of the '70s with a shag rug and spherical cushions. When passing through the lobby, we were delighted to discover the epitome of kitsch in L.A.--a live woman in a glass case, calmly reading a book in her bra and underwear. We enjoyed our drinks poolside; the Absolut and fresh watermelon Cosmos were the bar favorites.
