Since the hotel first opened, it has ushered the creme-de-la-creme of Hollywood hipsters through its frosted double doors. The stark lobby/lounge area boasts floor to ceiling shag carpeting, tubular swing chairs, a DJ by night, and a person in a vitrine behind the front desk. For those who worship the sun, the Standard has a blue Astroturf sun deck with lounge chairs galore so you can take a gander at all of the fine hangers-on. Late night partying got you down? Refuel at the Standard's 24-hour diner, or get your locks tended at Rudy's Barber Shop (in the lobby too). If you actually want to spend the night at the hotel (many just visit for the "scene") you can retreat to one of their no-fuss rooms. While standing on your private undulating balcony, you can wind down and gab on the phone and reflect upon the sheer madness that is the Standard.
