The Rotunda at The Pierre Hotel
Most Americans, if polled, would probably agree that afternoon tea is a somewhat-bizarre European custom that has no chance stateside. They obviously haven't checked out what The Pierre Hotel has to offer. Enter The Rotunda, the hotel's signature room, and marvel at the floor-to-ceiling murals, ornate lighting fixtures, and the faux marble staircase, and you might just see yourself aboard the Titanic. You'll be further transported when your sweets and savories arrive on a three-tiered silver platter and fine china. Sip one of the many fine teas, or revel in a glass of sherry or champagne, for that matter. As the Rotunda does not take reservations for tea, simply waltz in between 3pm and 5:30pm any day of the week to indulge your fancy. You might just admit to yourself that this isn't such a bad tradition after all.
