FARM at The Carneros Inn is veritable restaurant royalty; it's what every eatery wishes it could be and should ceaselessly strive to match in culinary excellence. Upon entering the softly lit dining room, you're transported deep into a world where the freshest ingredients and finest wines are given their due attention on a menu crafted by Executive Chef Kimball Jones. Plenty of out-of-towners flock to FARM based on word of mouth, but a healthy number of locals are devotees, too, returning to dine in the simple chic interior space or on the outdoor lounge adorned with glass-walled fire pits. The food more than lives up to the elegant surroundings; we slowly worked our way through dishes including Dungeness Crab Salad, Kumamoto Oysters, Pork Tenderloin, Local Petrale Sole, and a Spiced Bitter Chocolate Fondant for dessert. The servers, who made every effort to make us feel comfortable and never once rushed us, suggested exquisite wine pairings for the dishes to heighten their savory taste. As we sipped on champagne watching the moon rise over Napa's gorgeous skies, the good people of FARM were kind enough to call a car service to pick us up, as our lodgings were just up the road. All the while we desperately wished we could retreat to a private cottage on The Carneros Inn property, but, c'est la vie. We'll make up for this misstep by returning for another weekend of tasty bliss at our favorite Napa retreat.
