Four Seasons Silicon Valley
You've driven by it countless times. The Four Seasons Silicon Valley. This mirrored monolith, perched above the University Avenue exit in Palo Alto, is an obvious choice for the corporate crowd with impeccable taste. But we're here to rave about the hotel from a pampering aficionado's point of view. First word of advice? Book a spa getaway or girl's weekend at this hotel NOW because as soon as word gets out about this surprising shangrila, you'll have to wait in line. The Splendora team recently went on retreat here and was positively blown away by the hotel's freshness—their exquisite art collection; well appointed and spacious suites; and full service spa located only steps away from the intimate roof deck pool. Days were spent poolside sipping strawberry lemonade and champagne. In our cabanas we indulged in spa tapas -- an ingenious offering of mini treatments like foot, hand, and scalp massage ordered a la carte and usually accompanied by a corresponding cocktail. Of course we also visited the spa with its fabulous steam room, granite showers, and goodies galore. We tried a myriad of treatments including facials, massage, mani pedi, and body scrubs. After a decade of reviewing spas, we found that most hotels with gorgeous spas often have so-so practitioners. Definitely not the case with the Spa at Four Seasons. Every practitioner was first rate--true professionals you usually find in private practice. We were actually shocked by the quality of practitioners and treatments and also delighted that the treatment rooms were brand new and outfitted with remote control massage tables so you could be adjusted to sitting position afterward. In the evening we dined at the hotel's restaurant Quattro which serves mouth watering Northern Italian cuisine. The Quattro bar also turned out to be a happening hotspot during the weekday so we had no desire to leave the hotel. Ever.
