We must admit we were skeptical when we caught wind of a supposedly wondrous new treatment delivering the results of a facelift without surgery. After a visit with aesthetician Cindy Sohn of Burlingame’s Halo Beauty Studio, we were singing a different tune. Sohn, who’s passionate about skincare and technology, and incredibly nice to boot, began by performing her “non-surgical facelift” (read: totally painless) on one side of our face. She ran a trio of microcurrent-emitting metal wands over our skin, varying the frequencies as she progressed through the phases: detox, oxygenation, wrinkle release, lift, and rejuvenation. The results were astonishing: a gorgeously lifted brow, mile-high cheekbones, minimized crow's feet, and not a turkey-neck jiggle in sight. (By the next morning, pigmentation that’s plagued us for ages was lighter than ever.) To get the rest of your body in equally fabulous shape, Sohn offers an “inch-loss” sculpting treatment. Applying a current to a targeted area contracts and consequently tones, tightens, and defines muscles. When applied to the abs, for example, the result is equivalent to having done 5,000 to 7,000 sit-ups, without having to actually do a single one. Just arrived at the studio is Sohn’s newest cutting-edge gadget: the Intraceuticals hyperbaric oxygen machine, used to perform anti-aging oxygen facials that plump, hydrate, and firm the skin. Its miracle results have made it all the rage in Hollywood; just ask Madonna, who owns three of them - one for each of her houses.
