MacArthur Place
This ultra-comfy sixty-four room luxury inn and spa is a newly renovated, classic country estate near downtown Sonoma, and frankly, it provided one of the nicest hotel experiences we've had to date. The Garden Spa Suite was our dwelling of choice, outfitted with treats to enhance any romantic jaunt or weekend away with your best girlfriends. Imagine being greeted by luxurious perks like a king-size four-poster bed, outdoor teak tub built for two, an enormous, primp-ready marble bathroom, and chic country décor straight out of Thornton Wilder. Privacy seekers will appreciate the suite's secluded ambiance, which includes an outdoor area that gives new meaning to the word "intimate"; an outdoor shower, mini-waterfall, and cozy sitting area are yours, all yours, during your stay at MacArthur Place. Even the litany of delights found at the hotel's on-site spa can come straight to you; we enjoyed a full body massage on our patio while being lulled into a relaxing stupor by the soothing waterfall. Aaah...bliss. Only the allure of the serene pool was able to coax us out of our room. It was there, among lush flowers and prim East Coast inspired landscaping, that we achieved the elusive "perfect tan." Forty-eight hours away from the City feels like a week's vacation at this elegant wine country retreat.
