Maybe you have gazed across glimmering Stowe Lake, but if you have not made it to the majestic island, you've overlooked a gem in the Park. Stroll along the lake, admire the ducks and cross the bridge to the island. Seek out the trails that circle the island and lead to the crest. Take your time and weave among the trees. On a clear day enjoy the peaceful challenge of finding the best vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin headlands, downtown and the Pacific. If you have the time to walk or mountain bike, head west down John Kennedy Drive toward Ocean Beach. Any angst you had will dissipate by the time you reach water.
