Wicked epitomizes the main tenets of flawless San Francisco style: classic, yet forward-thinking, sophisticated, unique, and fashion-conscious. However, leaving the salon with a deftly constructed cut and shimmering color job, you may find yourself speaking with a Bostonian twang. As in, you'll want to exclaim, "My hair looks wicked gorgeous!" Owners Vicky Shen and Sue Ko hail from a prestigious background, having cultivated their skills and distinct styling vision at Architects and Heroes prior to opening their own salon in early 2007. On our visit, we had the pleasure of being treated by both masterful women. First, Vicky infused dimension into our fading, formerly one processed hue by strategically placing highlights around the crown and pulling more of our natural color through other areas. Not only did this make our locks glimmer under the sunlight, but the look was subtle and is much more convenient, upkeep-wise (i.e., no more heinous visible roots in between dye jobs). Sue handled the cut, taming a pyramid shaped 'do into something more manageable. Taking time to assess our lifestyle and styling needs, she snipped away at both wet and dry locks, producing a modern and multi-layered coiffure that was polished, but didn't look too "done." In between services, we also received the signature Kerastase Oleo Fusion treatment, delivering much needed moisture to overprocessed tresses. You'll feel relaxed in Wicked's clean and bright environs and can sip on citrus-infused water or enjoy light snacks while you beautify. The bewitching effects of a trip to Wicked continue when you leave the salon; the proof lies in the complimentary stares strangers will throw your way as you stroll through Union Square.
