1. Nick Rhodes from Duran DuranAs a girl I was a big Duran Duran fan (Oh who am I kidding? They're all over my iTunes library). Turns out a good friend of mine actually knows band leader Nick Rhodes and invited me to his dinner with Nick last night. I asked Nick how the band got its start and he said when he wanted to drop out of college his parents gave him a one year deadline to pursue music and if nothing came of it he'd have to return. Nick and his childhood friend John started a band called Duran Duran and the rest is history. Duran Duran is in town this weekend on tour to promote their new album Red Carpet Massacre. The band's favorite game on the road? To try to come up with at least one band who made a legendary, genius album completely sober. We played at dinner.
