Away We Go

1. Away We Go

My friend Vendela Vida (the brilliant novelist) and her husband Dave Eggers (ditto) wrote their debut screenplay "Away We Go," starring Maya Rudolph and John Krasinksi. The screenplay is far more clever, original and nuanced than your typical Apatow vehicle and to top it off Sam Mendes is the director. The result is the smartest, most creative, hilarious, unpredictable and beautiful movie in this "she's having a baby" genre that you will ever see. John K. is a smarter, quirkier (and younger) romantic lead than Ben Stiller, and Maya Rudolph's acting totally knocked me out. Her range is extraordinary. In theaters next week June 5th.
