If you think HD is revealing, wait until you see a movie in Blu-ray. High definition is not kind to most people but it's especially hard on the cosmetic surgery set. A decade ago, a makeup artist could use a spackle-type concealer and/or some shading to smooth everything to perfection. And if that didn't work there was always "fuzzy" focus, which could soften flaws (think Joan Collins, Dynasty). Well, leave it to Hollywood makeup artists to perpetuate the fantasy. There are new HD makeup lines in the work as well as digital retouching artists who use technology to make skin more luminous. I suppose it will always be a trend for the public to prefer their celebrities flawed on the inside but not on the outside.
