Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi has long suffered from Endometriosis, a condition that occurs when the tissue lining the uterus begins growing elsewhere--typically on ovaries, fallopian tubes, the outer wall of the uterus, the intestines, or other organs in the belly. Endometriosis affects about 10
percent of all women and may be involved in up to half of all cases of
infertility. Padma has recently come out publicly to talk about her battle with Endometriosis and has created her own foundation to fight this disease and increase awareness and education. If your menstrual cycles are particularly debilitating you may want to ask your doctor to check for Endo. Find out more about this painful and mysterious condition on Padma's Endometriosis Foundation of America here.
