The Female Obama

4. The Female Obama

Last night I attended a fundraiser for Kamala Harris who is running for Attorney General of California in 2010. This formidable prosecutor and politician is the first female and also the first African American District Attorney in the State of California. She has been called the female Barack Obama by respected journalist Gwen Ifill; was featured on Oprah as one of “America's Most Powerful Women;" and was recently named by The New York Times as one of the 17 women most likely to become the first female president of the United States. Five years ago my husband met Obama at the Democratic Convention and said to me, "This man is going to be president one day." After hearing Kamala's life story, accomplishments as a DA, and learning about her political philosophy I'm beginning to think that Obama might one day aspire to be a male Kamala Harris.
