Over the weekend, our editorial assistant's iChat was hacked and I received a text on Saturday morning from someone posing as her. It took a few exchanges until I figured out that it was a scam (couldn't speak by phone, used the odd phrase "having troubles sorting out hotel bills") but it was a good reminder that we can never be sure who we're talking to via email, text, and any medium where you can't see a face or hear a voice. Remember: never give passwords, money, or sensitive info over email or text.
