Splendora Stars Style Their Own Holiday Look

The Fashion Informer recently invited three fellow Splendora members to a photo studio in New York's East Village for an afternoon of fun and fashion. Each woman was given the choice of four DKNY sequin tops (photos of which were emailed to them ahead of time), and told to bring clothing and/or accessories from their own wardrobe that they would wear with the top to a holiday party or event.

When the trio - Jane Kim, Vivianne Lapointe and Nicole Comas - arrived at the studio, none of them had ever met offline before. But by the time the shoot ended several hours later (with wine, Thai food, music and girl talk flowing freely), it seemed like they'd known each other forever.

Here's how each Splendora Star styled herself for the upcoming holidays:


NAME: Jane K. (aka, Janekim84)

OCCUPATION: Assistant at Edun

SPLENDORA READER SINCE: 2005. "I like the What To lists, and I like reading other people's member diaries. It's just a good way to get insight into people's lives."

JANE'S STYLE: "Eclectic. I always try to dress appropriate for the occasion - and there are always a lot of different occasions!"

JANE'S PICK: DKNY black chiffon sequin shell, $245, at select Bloomingdale's or DKNY.com. "I knew I definitely wanted to wear my Edun high-waisted jeans because they fit really well and I thought this top would work well with the dark grey color of the jeans."

JANE'S HOLIDAY WHAT TO WEAR: Along with her own jeans and Cole Haan/Nike patent leather slingbacks, which she brought to complement the "sparkly" top, Jane also chose, from Splendora's style rack, a black satin Julie Haus' Satin Tavern Bomber jacket, $348 ("it works really well because it has a sheen to it, and it matches the sequins on the shirt. It's super comfortable and I love the ¾ sleeves"), and an Alexis Bittar Silver Lucite, $395 and Swarovski link bracelet. "This whole outfit is a little bit edgy, so I wanted to glam it up and the bracelet adds a very feminine touch."

WHERE SHE'D WEAR IT: "I would definitely wear this out to a party. Probably somewhere very, very trendy such as the Beatrice Inn or Marquee."


NAME: Vivianne Lapointe (aka, Ladyshark)

OCCUPATION: Beauty writer

SPLENDORA READER SINCE: 2005. "I like that it's a really cool community of girlfriends and that it's a very positive environment and website. All the blogs on the internet always have very negative comments, and this is one where you can actually make real friends, which is great."

VIV'S STYLE: "Glam rock/ghetto future!"

VIV'S PICK: DKNY dark grey chiffon tank with big silver paillettes, $225, at select Neiman Marcus or DKNY.com. "I chose this top because it's bold and beautiful and the color's nice."

VIV'S HOLIDAY WHAT TO WEAR: She paired it with her own Moto skinny jeans, delicate silver necklace and her "favorite" black leather United Nude Eamz pumps with cantilevered silver heels. She borrowed a bra from Nicole (see Viv's Splendora diary for details). And from the Splendora accessories table, Viv borrowed some $105 crystal drop earrings by Leetal Kalmanson, LK Designs - "it's a little bling, but subtle bling" - and a Mesi Jilly onyx and silver cowrie shell ring, $800. "This ring is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It's very natural but at the same time, it's very glamorous. And it's bold, and I love bold!" She also wore a Shelly Steffee Cumberbund Belt in mesh antique silver, $120 ("it really helps define my waist, which I like") and a Crystal Pirate Watch by VaBene, $295. "I never wear watches, but this one I would wear because it's like a jewel. And I like the pirate thing, it falls into my whole LadyShark kind of ghetto-ish style, so it's perfect."

WHERE SHE'D WEAR IT: "To my office party or a fragrance launch or something fun."


NAME: Nicole Comas (aka, Gucci.gabbana)

OCCUPATION: Concierge at Luxury Attaché

SPLENDORA READER SINCE: The site's inception. "Splendora has everything. There's always interesting tidbits from great restaurants to great shopping. My favorite is the 'What To' because every week it's so fun and different."

NICOLE'S STYLE: "Girlie. Super, super girlie. I don't think I'm ever in flats. I'm usually in heels of some sort. I love skirts. I love dresses. I love pearls."

NICOLE'S PICK: DKNY silk chiffon fuchsia top with large fuchsia paillettes, $225, at select Neiman Marcus or DKNY.com. "I chose the hot pink sequin DKNY top because it's so holiday and so festive."

NICOLE'S HOLIDAY WHAT TO WEAR: She wore her own sky-high black satin Dolce Vita maryjanes ("they're kind of painful but so cute") and from Splendora's rack and table, she chose a BCBG MAX AZRIA black burn-out silk skirt, $218, a "big funky metal and pearl bracelet," $128 and "long sparkly black earrings," both by James Murray, $74.

WHERE SHE'D WEAR IT: "This look is great for a holiday party at work, it's great to go out to dinner with your boyfriend or just about anything. The top is so versatile cause you can pair it with jeans and a cardigan and you can wear it to work. And the same for the skirt; it just goes anywhere. Especially in New York, you can really wear fun clothes just about anywhere at any time for anything."
