Each year People releases their much publicized "Most Beautiful" issue, a collection of supremely attractive human beings consisting primarily of Hollywood A-listers. It is difficult to dispute the fact that individuals like Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson, and Helen Mirren are anything but ravishing, but beauty comes in myriad packages, and we'd like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to a handful of women who were overlooked. Without further ado, we present you with "Splendora's Most Beautiful" list:

1. Sofia Coppola: Too often, critics claim that Sofia's success is due to her lineage. However, Sofia has a unique creative vision that shines through in her rich and textured films. When she's not behind the camera, she dazzles us with red carpet style that's minimalist chic.

2. Vendela Vida: The celebrated author is a beauty in real life, humble, and incredibly intelligent. Two Splendora girls have been gushing about Let the Northern Lights Erase Your Name since finishing the novel, whose well crafted prose radiates beauty from the page.

3. Emily Haines: You may not be familiar with this Canadian indie rock queen, who fronts the band Metric. Don't be fooled by her ethereal features; she's got one hell of a voice and writes powerful feminist anthems and ballads.

4. Miranda July: Me and You and Everyone We Know was one of our favorite movies of '05. This performance artist, author, and writer/director is much more than "quirky." It's her earnest take on the world and human relationships that we admire.

5. Laura Dern: It's no wonder why David Lynch considers Dern his muse. This statuesque beauty and phenomenal actress has won over our hearts (and Ben Harper's, too).

San Francisco salon, Secret Agent, is such a killer new beauty locale that we can't keep it "Top Secret" from our Splendora girls. Head "agent" Melissa Wagner does a superb job with color, and she knows how to turn out a fabulous, red carpet-worthy 'do (think: Beyonce at the Oscars). Classic cuts, edgy dye jobs - the stylists at Secret Agent do it all with panache. All you have to do is bring your trench coat and sunglasses.

Culinary Maven Sherry Page, will be at the Ferry Building on Saturday, May 5th, to dish out her best tips and tricks. She's giving a personal Farmer's Market tour, pointing out what's fresh, how to pick out premium produce, and sharing her favorite, can't-miss shops/vendors. RSVP to: sherry@culinarygetaways.com.
