Native American Style: The Next Big Thing |
At Splendora we love to play the role of style soothsayer. We have looked into our Magic 8-Ball and we see the fashion future. All signs are pointing to Native American style. Right now, hipsters in urban pockets are going hog wild over Native American stylings. And if it is saturating the indie rock scene, it is bound to make a big mainstream splash. We have noticed at many shows, bands are using Native American imagery to compliment their tunes. Plus, there have been masses of chicks rocking crown grazing headbands (like this one from Jacqui Chazen), pelt-style jackets, suede galore, and wampum bracelets. One of our most favorite purveyors of style, Cuteness Burger, took some recent pics at a pow-wow that will wow you indeed. Even the fussy experts at Style.com say that feathers are going to be huge for fall. Further evidence that it's gonna be a phenomenon - an author came up with a specific term to describe people who wear too much Native American-themed garb, "Cherohonkees". Maybe it's the spiritual nature of the threads, maybe it's all the beading, who knows, fashion is fickle. Remember, you heard it here first.

Sheryl Crow Lullabies |
Hopefully the arrival of lil' Wyatt Crowe will help sweet mommy Sheryl break her habit of writing forlorn love songs about lost love. Her songs are always about breakups and sad times i.e., "My Favorite Mistake" (about Eric Clapton), "The First Cut is the Deepest," "Anything But Down," The Difficult Kind"...mama has been down in the dumps. She needs to lock those songs away in her box of broken relationships because they sure as hell will not lull a baby to sleep. But from the looks of these perky photos, we get the sense that more happy hits like "Soak Up the Sun" are on the horizon.
