Rare Device San Francisco

Last night was the opening party of the coolest store to hit San Francisco in a long time.

Rare Device is at 1845 Market (at Guerrero I think) and it's where to go if you want great art books, jewelry, art, paper goods, ceramics, and lots more. Everything is carefully chosen, almost curated.

It's where I will be doing my holiday shopping!

O Lovelies

We hopefully have some warm weather still ahead in San Francisco, but the evenings are starting to feel somewhat fall-ish.

The perfect fall socks are long delicate O Lovelies. Keep your legs warm while looking hot.

Saturday Night Opening Party

anniegalvin.jpg

Come on out to The Salon (377 Guerrero @ 16th) for the opening of my latest show. Tomorrow night, Saturday the 8th, 7:00 pm.

I hung 70 new paintings last night and they look great in the space. We'll have wine, snacks, and great music. Not to mention the hottest, hippest art crowd in San Francisco!

Oh, and while you're in the neighborhood, don't forget to check out Lisa Congdon's show at The Candy Store.

Esmee Denters

This cute Dutch girl is a real YouTube success story. After posting amateur videos of herself singing covers of popular songs, she was discovered by millions of YouTube viewers, and also discovered by some people who could give her a real career; she is currently touring with Justin Timberlake in Europe!

Check out the video of her singing Justin's "What goes around." What a voice!

Worth it for a canvas bag?

This was the line in New York the day Anya Hindmarch's "I'm not a plastic bag" $16 canvas tote was released. Seriously, the line was 3 blocks long at noon. They were letting ONE person in the tiny store at a time.

The girls in the store next door had one of the bags and let me look at it.

Cute, but would I wait in line for hours to get one? NO.

What to Accessory: Kate Moss Pendant

Oh Kate, you've had your up(per)s and down(er)s. Who knew you would recover with such aplomb after cocainegate, but you did, and we still love you and your mystifying Pete-loving ways.

Now we can all demonstrate just how cool and rockin'  we are with this Alex and Chloe Kate pendant.

What was I thinking?

My husband went to The Police tonight at the Oakland Coliseum. He just called and held up his phone so I could hear, "Don't stand so close to me."
It was a last-minute thing. He went with friends, and I could have gone, but I said "no, I have too much to do blah blah blah."
What was I thinking?
THE POLICE!!

What to DVD: Cracker

This 1993 BBC crime series is now available on Amazon.co.uk and Netflix. Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies) is Fitz, a brilliant police psychologist, and an alcoholic gambler who swears and chain-smokes his way through the wreckage of his personal life.
It's smart, gripping, and just the right tart counterpoint to balmy summer days.
