Cash Flow

So all of these Fall style magazines are driving me crazy! I want to buy every single piece of gorgeous clothing with the perfect shoes and killer accessories. The only problem is how in the world do I afford any of these pieces?!?! I must admit, many of my "What To" posts are fantasy posts...while I can sit and drool over the 12 open Safari browsers that host endless images of threads I dream of buying, the truth is I cannot afford most of those pieces! How do you fabulous ladies do it? This is where Forever 21 and H&M come in, I suppose...one day, As God is my Witness, I will never buy discount again!

OK...my melodramatic episode is over; back to lusting after clothes!

Back-to-School Blues

So, this is it -- I am on the home stretch to getting my Master's and the home stretch seems to get longer every step I take. My university changed the policies for the graduate project for this semester and it was something I was not expecting and presented obstacles in my path that brought an abrupt end to my class-free (read: stress-free) summer! Long gone are the days of Saturdays by the pool, weekend road-trips and weeks where the only thing I read were People, InStyle and Splendra :)

Really, though, I am tres excited to be finished with my degree and to start job searching for PR jobs. I am blessed to have a job that pays well and a boss that understands my school schedule, but I am so ready to take everthing I have learned and apply it in preferably, a PR agency setting. Even with all the stress of working full time and going to school, I strongly encourage anyone who is thinking of going back to school to do it. It is most definitely worth it!

Good luck to everyone else starting the Fall semester!

Healthy Happy Hour

I just attended a happy hour where I had a fabulous time and I didn't have one drink! My friend won a happy healthy hour for her and three friends at Origins. I was lucky enough to be invited and after some reshuffling of my schedule, I was able to make it! Boy am I glad I did. My lady, Neesa did an amazing job of addressing my skin concerns and even though she knew this was free, she really took the time to talk to me about the products that were going to help. I usually don't like when people in a store try and sell you something, and I may be a sucker, but Neesa was so helpful that I ended up buying most everything she used on me! And if I don't like it, I can always take it back (as long as the bottles aren't half way gone of course). In addition to the facial, you get a free make up consult! I really love Origins products and I highly recommend the following: (just FYI, I have combination oil/normal skin, with an occasional dry spot in the most random place, my forehead).
o Checks and balances face wash (much better than their Pure Cream, which I bought last time)o Have a nice day moisturizer is great for my oily skin because it hydrates my face but doesn't leave it oily AND very important - it is SPF 15o My most important purchase was the Night-A-Mins eye cream because lately I feel like I look much older than I am! And with my big 2-5 birfday approaching, that is unnerving! I bought this instead of their very popular Dr. Weil's Plantidote Serum only because there was quite a price difference and I knew I was going to be spending a lot. If I dont see results, I'll take it back and see the other one.o Last, I bought a mask she used on me during the facial which felt glorious called Out of Trouble. It has a wonderful spearmint aroma that was really relaxing while I was lying there. And my sking felt super soft afterwards, but not dry or tight at all.
Neesa was fabulous and I credit her for my confidence in these products, plus the fact that I can go back if I don't like them is reassuring that she wasn't just trying to get me to buy as much as possible. (She never pressured me at all).Moral of the story is to put your business card in their jar at the register because you could win this wonderful little treat and take along your favorite lady friends to share! (P.S. if you are the host and your friends spend a certain amount, you get a free one-hour massage...maybe you'll become the one pressuring your friends to buy, buy, buy!

Home decor woes

I don't think I've been so stressed since the SAT in high school! Decorating a house is so overwhelming and sometimes it is hard to know where to start! We bought a house last February and little by little decorated the major areas of the house: living room, master bedroom, formal dining room (which we turned into a game room with a pool table, bar and TV) and master bathroom. When my boyfriend started job searching, we put the decorating on hold because there was a possibility we would move, but now that we know we are staying here, it is time to stop staring at those poor, empty rooms back there.
We decided to start with the guest bedroom, as his mom and little sister are coming to visit for his MBA graduation (YAY!). I don't know why, but I feel so much pressure to make this room even better than the master. I mean i love our bedroom, but when people come stay at the house, the guest room becomes their home away from home. I want it to be comfortable, stylish and most important within our budget :) I have all these ideas floating around in my mind and I find myself grabbing everything I see that I like, even if they don't go together. Good thing my boyfriend was there to keep me in control. We bought the two key pieces today, the bed and a night stand and I want to now work around these two things. How overwhelming though to think of paint color, curtains, bedding and an overall a color scheme...oy vey. One day I'll be rich and hire an interior decorator, until then, here's to home decor magazines, Top Design, my crazy ideas and mixing it all together.

A Spring in my step...

The Spring is here and I can feel it blowing up my cute little dress. I make sure not to step on spring with my gorgeous wedge sandals. I can taste spring as it slides past my rosy pink gloss. I can touch spring with my freshly manicured little fingers. I can see spring with my purple-lined eyelids.Soon enough the hot Texas summer will be here, so I vow to take in spring with every single one of my senses!

San Francisco Treat

New York City has always been my dream city...the energy it gives off just made me want to drop everything and move there--that is until San Francisco came into the picture. I got here on Friday for work and am dreading going back home to Dallas! This place has the big-city feel while giving off a more relaxed vibe.

These are a few of my favorite things:

- I'm a sucker for touristy things and I don't think I could ever get tired of the Pier 39 carnival thing going on over there. Not to mention that I could sit for hours and be entertained by the sea lions.

- The Sunday Dim Sum was gluttonous.

- The vintage shops on Haight Street

- There are so many different neighborhoods, each with their own personality.

- Trivia night at the Bitter End! (soooooo much fun!)

The shopping is fabulous, the people are friendly and the proximity to wine country practically has me packing my bags and moving here!

I just thought I would share my affinity for this fabulous place! Lucky ladies who live here!
