I am sooooo not in shape, and will most likely be the worst one there, BUT it will be an awesome blog and a fabulous story and adventure for 2008.

New year + New skin = Kate Sommerville?

After picking up the mag New Beauty at the mall--an investment of $10--I now want all the expensive products in the universe and a nose job. lol

However I narrowed it down to Face Quench by Kate Sommerville.  Has any one used it?  Apparently Kate Walsh is quite the fan along with Debra Messing.  I figure you can't go wrong with those beauties???!!!!???

New Years Shmuyears

New Years and I have never mixed—kinda like a tequila and mayo shot the day after you have a tad too much red wine and ended up sleeping in the dog bed in the family room.  The thought makes me queasy.  Needless to say, I have had a few not so great New Years.

I always end up in the car trying to get to the party, in a fight with my current boyfriend, or driving (when I shouldn’t be driving) to find my friend who definitely shouldn’t be driving.         My roommates have planned a party to be held at our house tonight.  I love them dearly, and can’t wait to hang out (I just got back from O-H-I-O).  However, I am not ready for the keg shin dig we have set up.  I didn’t even invite any of my friends.  A fact that is totally uncharacteristic of me.  Also, my boyfriend has to work tonight, due to the fact that the energy trading market never closes and he is the low man on the totem pole. I am just not feeling this. . .        HOWEVER—I love resolutions.  It is a chance to start over.  I get such a rush out of it.  Here are a few things on the list.

1.Take care of my skin.—I am in the process of cancelling my tanning membership.

2. Eat less processed food and more meals—I love you lean cuisine, but I think it is time to branch out.

 3. Organize and Prioritize—I get distracted so easily.  I need to streamline.

 4. Talk and treat others better—In particular my bf that I seem to take for granted on a daily basis.

 5. Continue to workout in the mornings—I started doing this but I want to do more.

And that is it!  Now, if you will excuse me I am going to get a jump on the organizing thing so that when I come into work on Wednesday after the gym I will be way ahead of the curve with my nice clean desk.

Now, if I only I could figure out how to get out of this evening. . .

Lots a luv, Charm City!  Faithy.

Foundation for Olive Colored Skin

So I am thinking of braving the mall this afternoon and I want to get a new foundation.  I have used lancome photogenic for about 8 years.  I know--if it's not broke don't fix it--but I can't help wonder if there is something better out there.

I have very light olive coloring that get extremely pale (almost green) in the winter.  Any splendora babes have a favorite?

Ode to my Roomies. . .

It is crazy how you forget to be thankful for your roomies.  In this money driven society, where we always need a bigger house, that is closer to the water, and in the middle of a thriving city, I wouldn’t be able to pay rent without my three roommates.  However, they mean more to me than just a check—they are pure comedy.  In a nut shell--the reason from my sanity is our insanity.

Last night we exchanged presents via a secret santa.  The rules were simple and were laid out a month ago by our Santa in Command, Jenn.

Pick a name out of the hat.
Don’t tell the name to anyone.
No gift certificates allowed.
Spending limit is $25.

Ordinarily rule number 2 is the hardest to keep. However, we made it all the way to last night without anyone telling a soul.

Santa’s helper, Frank made chicken marsala that we eagerly gobbled, and elf, Jake prepared the vino.  After dinner, Santa in Command gave the go ahead to exchange gifts.  I had Jake and he had me.

I received a funnier than hell book (Does Anything Eat Shit?) and a grow your own Jesus (who doesn’t need one of those. . .after all He is the reason for the season).  Jake got Johnny Walker (the little elf’s drink of choice).  Suddenly, Santa’s Helper (Frank) didn’t look so chipper.  A perplexed look crossed his face as Santa in Command (Jenn) gave him his present.

Frank then proclaimed that he too had Jake and handed Jake another bottle of Johnny Walker.  The sight that followed was quite sad.  I have never seen Santa in Command so saddened.  Santa in Command confessed that perhaps she was a little too excited when she wrote the names down to be pulled out of the hat that fateful day about a month ago.  So excited, that she forgot her own name.  (so sad :<)

Santa in Command, this blog is for you. Merry Christmas from your roomies who love you.

Little Miss Sunshine. . .a la Baltimore

I am up before the sun breaks at 6 a.m. and I am leaving work long after the sun has set.  I have 6 large scale events occurring in the next 3 weeks, and the pressure to prove myself in a new position is always present in the back of my mind.   Subsequently, I have gone from running 6 miles a day to none and despite the impending holidays, I’m really not feeling a whole lot of cheer, but I am feeling a few extra pounds around my thighs.  So imagine my surprise, when I found a little bit of sunshine 100 ft from my doorstep at 9pm after an arduous day at work.

As I approach my doorstep, I acknowledge the police men having a cigarette.  About four or five officers have been living in a police mobile parked outside of my house for three days. This police vehicle is no rapist sized van.  It is a full on motor home, that runs 24 hours a day, flashing lights and all.  When I ask, “Why are you here?” They say, “For your safety.”

I want to say, “Fabulous!  Where were you when my house was robbed twice, my boyfriend’s car was hit, and my neighbors were dealing drugs?  And is there any way you can not talk about the ass you got last weekend while I am trying to sleep?  Thank you kindly.”

Of course, I really just smile and fumble for my keys, when something distracts me.  I put my stuff down for a second.  It’s safe. Remember, there are three overweight cops eating donuts outside my house.

I look into the alley around the corner.  To my delight, there is a woman embracing life to its fullest.  True—she is obviously on some type of drug that is aiding in her delusional euphoric state, but all the same, I am enthralled.

I sit there amazed by her for a good 5 minutes as she twirls and sings, “She’s a very freaky girl. The kind you don’t take home to mother. . .”  I burst out laughing.  She looks exactly like Olive from “Little Miss Sunshine.”

It is said that the holidays bring the freaks out.  Perhaps it’s true.  Personally, I couldn’t keep myself from humming Super Freak while I made dinner that night.  And you know what?  I felt a whole lot better.  Perhaps being a Freak ain’t so bad afterall.

Shopping Advice

So I am going to visit NYC this weekend. . .that means mass amounts of shopping.  I am looking for bargains.  I used to live there so I know my way around pretty well, but I would never EVER say that I am in the know when it comes to bargain shopping.  Already on my list for places to hit up:

1. Canal Street: Fakes are never in fashion, BUT neither is being broke or out of style.

2. H&M: Yes, we have it, but never the latest styles.

3. Bloomies: Becuase we must be able to dream

4: Fashion District: Show me the sample sales!

I am really looking for new work pieces, but always end up by jeans.  Any suggestions ladies????

Maybe when I will return I will have some tales from the big city that aren't so nitty girtty!
