June Newsletter Dear Friends, As fashion hits the style of the 1960’s & 70’s the colors are bold, bright & mixed together in waves, paisleys, and my favorite—flowers! Flower Power motifs are the thing to wear in shoes, fabrics & of course jewelry. As you all know colorful flower jewelry has been my signature design. The gem colors for this season are pinks, blues & yellows, worn mixed in multi strands, clusters or mini paves set in different hues of rose, white, or yellow gold. My spring/summer jewelry designs are additions to the daisy collection I introduced last year. Each piece is one off and an exclusively Janet Deleuse original. A preview of my fall collection in emeralds, diamonds & grey pearls. Greens, grays & purples Will be the warm tones to wear when the air becomes cooler. Wishing you all the best summer blessed with lazy days & cool drinks. Your devoted jewelry designer,Janet Deleuse Pictured Below: Dramatic drop earrings with diamond flowers, heart shape rock crystal & long pink tourmaline briolette. FashionThe history of the late Yves St. Laurent is fascinating. He was really a gift to the world for his creativity & without any formal education. Just shows you what passion can do combined with talent. Janet Deleuse World Travels & Jewelry 2007 Girlfriends,By popular demand I will be writing short newsletters to share my discoveries in this fantastic world of jewelry that I work & live passionately in. As you know I travel the world & on each trip I seek out jewelry fashions in antique & current designs. In Capri where bikinis are worn everywhere with sheer wraps & lace up sandals the necklaces are long –below the navel & worn in multiples; small beads of pearls, turquoise & coral. The bold bracelets & earrings are in yellow gold, geometric shapes 60’s style. The best beadwork that I have ever seen is at the Shompole Lodge in east Kenya. The elder Masai women from the village, that I had the great fortune to meet, make beaded necklaces, belts, purses, shoes & clothing for chic boutiques in L.A. & New York; they have been featured in many fashion magazines for their exceptionally beautiful beading. At the Basel jewelry show rose gold is the color, mixed with muted topaz, citrines & natural colored diamonds of bronze, champagne & brown. Our best find was a very rare, long strand of perfectly round & deep golden south sea pearls from Schoeffel Pearls. In Geneva we witnessed a bit of history in the making by the introduction of Cartier’s new “Ballon Bleu” watch while munching on blue M&M’s. If you haven’t tried one on yet drop by our store, the rose gold is my favorite. My best discovery was in Paris, I finally found antique handmade Art Nouveau chains (18k yellow gold) inspired from the scrolling iron gates. French women are given portions of the chains when they marry into the family, that’s how I got mine!I also discovered a small shop that has the largest collection of Suzanne Belperron’s work. You may have seen some of her pieces exhibited at the Legion of Honor for the French Jewelry Collection. Belperron has been an inspiration for me, her work was very modern, big & bold in bright colors for the 30’s. The pieces are all exquisite & rare, available at Lydia Courteille, 231 Rue Saint-Honore, Paris.Daisy flowers were everywhere in Paris, on the clothes, in the windows and on shoes which made me very happy because I have been designing a new collection of daisy jewelry in 18k pink, yellow & white gold paved in vivid pink, yellow & blue Sapphires! My jeweled daisies were photographed in New York Lustre magazine December 2007 issue. This is a short recap of 2007. Please call or email me with comments or questions.Wishing you the best of health & lots of laughs for 2008. Janet Deleuse
