Having grown up in San Diego, where the motto is 'the city with the best weather', I've always been irked by SoCal's incessant great weather and often wondered how I could have ended up in foggy San Francisco. However, it's days like these (SF is currently experiencing an extreme heat wave with temps in the 90s) where I really appreciate where I live. With the sun ablazing and the temperatures soaring, this city is off the hook. Half the workforce is suddenly, violently "ill" and rooftops are filled with sun worshipers midday. We rarely, I repeart
rarely get multiple days of such beautiful, cloudless, hot weather. But when we do, we appreciate it immensely. Coupled with yesterday's Supreme Court overturn of the gay marriage ban, this uber liberal, gay-friendly city is crazy happy. You can just sense it in the air. Go SF!!!

If only...
heat waves had the same effect in AZ. The forecast is calling for triple digits this weekend (which will probably remain until October), and there's a collective groan across the city. Come mid-summer, we will be sick of our sundresses and wistfully envious of your fog and your sweaters.
