buy genetic testing kits from
Navigenics. The tests screen you for
17 various diseases & conditions (think: Alzehimer's, diabetes, breast cancer, etc.) by analyzing a swab you personally take from your mouth, which is then sent to a lab. The going rate for this: $2,500. While it sounds convenient (almost like a 17-for-1 deal) it's kind of creepy that one will be voluntarily giving up their DNA to receive results back in the mail. What will happen to the good ole' doctor visits? On the flip side, at-home pregnancy tests were
not available until [gasp] 1976 and are completely standard by now. We will see....
