so the man & i finally did it... the big move-in! the merging of toiletries, closets and (shed a single tear) hearts. one week down & so far so good. getting unpacked & organized is a huge undertaking but we love the new neighborhood (hell's kitchen) and are acclimating to 24/7 togetherness just fine. wish us luck!

Ok, so I'm slightly biased since these fabulous young Brooklyn rockers originally hail from my home town of St. Louis, MO (and are friends of mine) but these boys truly rock! They've been compared to the French Kicks, The Walkmen and The Nationals by the rock gods at ohmyrockness.com; I personally think they have a bit of a Coldwar Kids sound as well. But whatever the comparisons, they are amazingly unique, talented boys who will do your ears good every time you turn them on. Check out the White Rabbits debut album Fort Nightly and let me know what you think. The Plot has me shaking my butt all over the apartment; hopefully it will do the same to yours. Oh, and I just found out they are appearing on David Letterman July 19th! I love it when hometown boys make good. It warms my heart.

So the man is back and better than ever.  He's been away working on some fun & exciting fashion that I can't wait to chat with all of you about this fall!  So exciting! 

Besides that we're looking for an apartment so keep your fingers crossed for us!

the man is gone.  has been for almost 2 weeks.  won't be back for 2 & 1/2 more.  he's crazy busy so we rarely speak.  thought i would revel in the privacy...bask in the freedom.  turns out i just miss him.  big lower lip stuck way out... super pout. 

The perfect flat. Looks great with jeans as well as dresses. I can walk all over New York without blisters on my toes or cuts on my ankles. All of this without looking like a hippie or a nurse! Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just not my thing.

I got them in crinkley black patent leather, but all of the colors are beautiful. To sum it up: these Sigerson Morrison flats rock.

i have long been a proponent of green living and have previously survived on strict shopping diets: no clothing from known or potential sweat shop supporters, only sustainable/organic textiles, vintage, vintage, vintage. but this soon became really expensive & somewhat creatively stifling.  and so, like on any diet , i eventually crashed and madly gorged myself on cheap fabrics sewn by even cheaper labor wondering why i had deprived myself of such wonderfully afforable & trendy treats for so long.

after the frenzy i took a step back to analyze the situation and one main question emerged:  how do we truly feed our chosen form of creative expression through clothing and still feel socially  responsible?  slowly the pool of affordable, ethical clothing choices is widening... i have seen some organic cotton at h&m.  but serisouly, it better get wider soon b/c i'm still binging at every turn on these guilty pleasures just waiting for my conscious to catch up with me again & enforce another strict diet.
