My Latest Obsession Please forgive me if you've already discovered this miracle worker, but I just can't help but share the love. This past Sunday I had to make a two-hour drive back to school. And, being the genius that I am, I decided to drink absolutely way too much the night before; leaving me with the kind of hangover where you get nauseated from standing up. My brother practically forced this nasty smelling powder down my throat. Within ten minutes, the headache and nausea were gone! I now use it for absolutely everything and tell so many people of its glory I've been mistaken for a spokesperson. Seriously. Buy it. Best five bucks you will ever spend. Peter Som Leaving Bill Blass During the Fall '08 Ready-to-wear shows, Peter Som's collection for Bill Blass was one of my absolute favorites. So when I found out today that he is leaving, I was so sad! I'm sure he'll do great with his own line and at another house, but for some reason I've always wanted Bill Blass to do well. Probably won't be able to see it for another 2 years...Another documentary about Karl Lagerfeld is coming out in France...which of course means we probably won't be able to see it for another few years. Netflix is finally releasing Lagerfeld Confidential in September. Until then it will be patiently waiting in my queue. Oh how I wish I could fly over to France to check out this one!
Literary AddictionDifferent people have various ways of comforting themselves, and mine isn't necessarily your typical method. Whenever I feel homesick, lonely, or just bored, I go to a bookstore. Used, new, commercial, independent...I'm an equal opportunity reader. There's just something so comforting about being in a bookstore (or library); I'm overwhelmed with this calm feeling that I simply cannot explain. I could spend all of my time and money in a bookstore and be perfectly happy. I'm not sure if it's my parents' influence, my constant need for quiet time, or my old obsession with being an intellectual, but it's been an obsession since I was a child. Shopping is, of course, another great outlet such as this, but for when I'm in a much different mood. With that being said, does anyone know of any particularly great bookstores in the Bay area that I should visit? P.S.-- if you haven't checked out Summer beach reads, you really should! I'm making my way through the list and it's definitely a great one, even if you're not an avid reader! Embrace the contraction, ya'llI would just like to clear something up because I experience this more often than one would think: Whenever I am not in the South, some people (not the ladies at Splendora, they love it!) get on to me about saying "ya'll". I think that some automatically assume it is a sign of a lack of education. But let me just say this: whenever I hear someone say "can't" instead of "cannot" or "I'm" instead of "I am," I don't assume that they are uneducated. So, Splendora reader, I urge you to embrace the contraction. It's already helped us consolidate many words in our vocabulary, so why stop now? Are they for real?! This is wrong on so many levels, yet surprisingly entertaining! WikiHow has an entry for "How to be like Serena Van Der Woodsen from Gossip Girl." At first, you would think that it would be a funny piece written in a joking manner. But no, the person who wrote it says things that really make me wonder if they honestly believe this crap: whoever wrote this is just cray-cray. Orbit's Positively Pomegranate Gum So I know it's limited edition and all, but Orbit's Positively Pomegranate gum is nowhere to be found. I grabbed a few packs while home in Florida and now they've got me addicted. I only have one measly piece left and I'm starting to feel like James Frey in "A Million Little Pieces." Why oh why would the chewy gods do this to me? Why Hello Splendoritas!I thought I'd drop a line and introduce myself... I'm your newest Summer intern for Splendora! It's only been two(ish) days and I'm loving it more than I ever thought I would!! (oh and don't worry, I'm not that girl who uses exclamation points too generously --those are much deserved, trust me) My first day happened to fall on my 21st birthday, then yesterday I went with a few of the gals to interview John Varvatos for his SF store opening. Kind of a tough two days to follow...although I'm sure the rest of my Splendora days won't dissapoint. |
