Traveling Princess

In the next two weeks I'm going to France, flying into Paris, and performing all over the country. I think that I might actually cry when the plane lands. I am so in love with France and I've never even been there before. Remember, this is coming from a girl who watches Amelie at least once a week and went to see Paris Je t'aime all by her lonesome. Any helpful tips or suggestions from anyone who has ever been?

Goodness Me

So I've been M.I.A. from Splendora for the last couple of weeks. No I haven't abandoned it, but have missed it dearly. I just haven't felt up to posting new diaries or adding to my list. I've been dancing like crazy and am about to embark to Europe. All I can think about is France and flying into Paris, dancing on stage, and spending time with my crazy yet lovely company members. So my mind and body have been somewhere else and I will return to Splendora soon!

A Weekend of Cat-Sitting

So I'm not a cat person. I've always had dogs and love dogs to death because they love attention and will snuggle with you. Cats are soooo unpredictable. This whole week I'm sitting on the UES with two cats. One who loves to be petted because she is a kitten and the other who looks like it wants to attack me everytime I come in the door. Needless to say I think I'm allergic to them. I woke up Sunday morning with a plump upper lip, and not the attractive upper lip a girly girl wants to have. Now I have to wash my hands obsessively after I touch the kitten and all clothes get thrown right into the hamper when I get home. Why couldn't they have been dogs!!!

Photo Shoots

Today I was fortunate enough to be asked to do a photo shoot for a magazine here in the city. If the picture comes out good I'll post it with the name of the publication, but if my feet aren't pointed and I look crazy we'll all have to use our imagination. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I love love love love love watching what happens at a photo shoot. I could sit there all day and watch the make-up artists, the stylists (esp. them), the photographer, and those doing their thing in front of the camera (yes I said it!) It is sooo interesting to see how everything comes together for one picture. More deets and maybe a picture in the near future!

My Monday Night!

Mmmm yummy Monday night dinner! After a day of yoga and finding a new roomie, I was in the mood for a salad. So I ran to Fairway (where I almost got my legs cut off by the crazy ladies with their shopping carts) to get my groceries and a bouquet of flowers to spice up my room! I have to share this salad with you because I made it last week and it lasted me most of the week.

I mix fresh spinach, pear, crushed walnuts, and bleu cheese into a bowl and then chicken marinated in balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, and salt and pepper.

It was so good I had to force myself to stop eating it so I would have lunch and dinner for tomorrow. It makes a massive bowl of salad and if you've never tried this flavor combo before you should...it is simply delicious!

An Observation

So I'm definitely on a Farmer's Market kick at the moment. I made three gorgeous meals this week with veggies from the market and plan to make another trip this week!

Anyway, I noticed when I went to the market that  I seemed to be the only one with a canvas bag to put my fresh goodies in. I saw tons of people carrying plastic bags from each stand but barely anyone that brought their own bag. This is just a frustrating observation that also made me very sad. Maybe the Anya Hindmarch bags made their appearance early in the morning?

Simpli Delicious

So after a week in Jackson Hole in the lovely fresh air, meteor showers, and incredible food I'm back in the city and uber sad I can't wake up to those gorgeous mountains. However, I did bring something lovely back to always remind me to breath and enjoy myself wherever I am. After getting an incredible salt scrub for my tired and dry skin at this very zen spa I happened upon Simpli Nature soy candles. I picked up the Lavender Vanilla scented one and have not stopped lighting it since I've been back. The scent is not overpowering at all and the best part is after you blow the candle out you can use the wax as a yummy body lotion! I'm seriously in love. Here is the website if you are interested: http://simplinature.com/  Have fun!

Back to Splendora and Breakfast

Oh I try to eat a healthy breakfast every morning but if I'm on vacation of course I overindulge. But I usually have Nature's Path Optimum Slim with plain organic yogurt, 1/2 banana, and a handful of blueberries. Each breakfast must be accompanied by two glorious gigantic cups of coffee! Yum!

Skincare Help!

So I've used a plethora of face washes over the last ten years. Let's see, I've gone from using Clarins (sooo good, sooo expensive), to Khiels (made my face break out), and have been a faithful Origins customer when everything else wasn't working. Now I want to try something new, or a new technique. I have super sensitive combination skin so it has to be something gentle and not horribly expensive.

Any suggestions from my Splendora ladies??

Gimme a Break

I feel myself needing a break from this city. This happens to me about three times a year but never in the summertime! I find myself willing summer along so I can go travel and get out of here. I love going to a new city and meeting new people, because then I really start to appreciate NYC even more when I return. Its not that I want to move away either but sometimes it gets to be too much, to the point where I can't relax. Is this normal to feel this way?
