Little Girl. Big Office. Part 8

Last week, at the spur of the moment, I had the opportunity to attend the Marketing Leadership Meeting. This unbelievable event featured time.com editor Josh Tyrangiel as the guest speaker as well as a variety of videos, executive speakers and even a sneak peak at a future McDonald’s commercial which happened to be hilarious. After the meeting, I had the opportunity to mingle with Restaurant Owner/Operators, Executives and my fellow interns before the "Dancing with the Stars" party began.

I am now entering my 8th week as a McDonald’s intern; I can’t believe how fast it is going! Lately, I am enjoying working on projects such as a corporate video, Executive Summaries and the rebuilding of the U.S. Communications website. In addition to these interesting projects, I had the opportunity to visit OSI and EastBalt, McDonald’s bacon and buns Suppliers with some other US Communications co-workers. This was a truly unique experience! Our group witnessed production from the earliest stages to the end product; we even got the opportunity to taste the delicious McDonald’s bacon. In addition to the great learning experience, it was hilarious seeing all of us strut through the factory in lab coats, hairnets, shoe covers and even earplugs! I look forward to filling you in on next week's adventure as a McDonald’s intern.

Little Girl. Big Office. Part 6

I am approaching my sixth week of my internship in Internal Communications and Management Communications at McDonald’s Corporation. I cannot even begin to tell you about all of the amazing experiences I have had thus far. I just wrapped up a meeting with the Marketing department about the upcoming McDonald’s LIVE tour. Check it out in a city near you! The workload is getting substantially larger; however, it creates more opportunities to learn more about the company and to be able to collaborate with many different employees.

It is week five of my internship at McDonald’s Corporation and I’m lovin’ it. The office is buzzing as everyone is eagerly preparing for the largest McDonald’s convention ever! Speeches are being written, plans are being drawn and Las Vegas accommodations are being confirmed. I will remain in the home office and hold down the fort while everyone is temporarily relocated to Las Vegas. I have been anticipating PEAK ever since my first day and I cannot wait to hear about the success of the event.

As a new addition to the McDonald’s clan, I am busy at work writing articles for a McDonald’s monthly publication, writing scripts and even making an appearance in a youtube video! I am now starting to get used to my Mclife. I pile into the elevators every morning and make my way up to the eighth floor (the corporate version of a penthouse). I sit down in my cubicle stocked with McDonald’s folders, paper clips with a glistening gold “M”, McDonald’s pens and even a promotional Shrek cup. I find myself in the adult version of Disneyland (except with lots of work!) and I cannot wait to come back.

Little Girl. Big Office Part 3

As my adventures as a McDonald’s intern continues, my daily routine changes allowing me to experience all aspects of the business. Today, I spent the entire day in the field. We visited twelve different McDonald’s restaurants and bought something at each and every location! (Needless to say, I am very full.) I had the opportunity to visit McDonald’s locations varying from the South Side of Chicago to the northern suburbs. This was an amazing experience that allowed my work in the office to connect to the actual restaurants.

As I enter the third week of my internship at McDonald’s Corporation, I begin to wonder if this could possibly get any better. Thus far, I have watched the President film his quarterly video, assisted a national webcast that had hundreds of listeners, and even had daily lunch dates with three fabulous interns! My biggest challenges in the working world so far are trying not to wear the same pair of black Tod’s everyday and managing to get all of my work done before the clock hits five.

As the week goes on, I look forward to updating you on my adventures as a McDonald’s intern.

Little Girl. Big Office. Part 1

I have never thought too fondly of the corporate world. The first thoughts that would come to my mind are boring pant suits, unmanicured nails and cubicles. Well, I thought wrong. As I started my internship this past week, I have never been so excited to call a couple of feet of space my home away from home. I must have called everyone I know to tell them I have my own cubicle, and it gets better day by day! We'll see, maybe I will even get my own business card? It turns out that business cards are not for getting dates (I'm joking)!
