Free positive energy.... that's our Paula!
Hello darling! Sorry to be the ultimate sad sack... not like I was up for swapping my delightful and delectible girl's lunch for some tasteless tapas with the finance director! Just got finished.... we'll set up our date again. In the meantime, keep writing your great contributions. Our skin and selves will be all the better for it. Besos, Melendy

Paula, We miss you!
Where have you been? We miss your wonderful advice and insight! xx
10:39 AM
Absolutely, Nicola!
Celebrate! I've adored make-up since I was about 8 years old and I still can't get enough of it! I remember seeing "Funny Girl" with Barbara Striesand. There's this scene where she transforms into this gorgeous icon though the way she moves and holds herself ( flawless make-up, too!). I remember seeing that and thinking if she could do that then anyone could. Please, Please post a diary comment with the same sentiments you've expressed here... such an important topic. I am in the process of producing a dvd to show real women how gorgeous they can be, I love to have a chance to "reveal" the hidden beauty I see in all women. You must visit me in Madrid this summer! besos, Paula Change the World! www.BeautyWithPaula.com

Oo!
Brilliant! Changing the world through beauty! I love it. There's so much criticism about people worrying about their looks, but worrying is one thing, and celebrating and playing them up is another. My mom always thinks me ridiculous for saying all I need for Christmas is make-up (MAKEUP?? Come on. There are more important things in life.) But I love it- I don't even have to wear it every day but I put it on because I have fun applying it- it's like an art. I think some people associate make-up with superficiality or insecurity- yes, maybe if you're wearing it to mask something or to appear a different person you really are. But I think it's a wonderful thing! So cheers to you.
On a random note, how did you manage to get involved in your job in Europe? I'm studying in Paris this fall and would love to somehow get involved in interning or somehow getting a foot in the fashion world there- Problem is, I have no clue how one would go about that! Oh, and you'll have to tell me some cool places in Madrid- I'm visiting a bit this summer!

good to hear...
that someone can relate! hope you've had a good weekend.

I'm curious....
"Fashions in Makeup" sounds really interesting! Tell me what you think about it...Also, my two cents, biggest mistake in skincare: Not wearing sunscreen 24/7. Esp. darker skin women...we think we are immume to skin cancer, but really we are prone to really uneven, discolored skin. Wearing a sunscreen protects against more hyperpigmentation in the future, keeping the skin more even(not ness. lighter). Cheers!

Thank You!
Your words of encouragement are super sweet! I would love to be in PR today...but my terrible procrastination and lack of focus in my young age have set me back a bit. I'll get there..but i need the degree first. Its possible without it..but I dont want to leave any room for error. Thanks so much! xo Ashley

FAKE-UP
My husband found the podcast on CNN... I think they did it because of Paris Hilton going to prison (the inmates comments about Paris were interesting, too), so it had to be recent. If you want to read a bit more about skin care check out my older website www.paulaowenviola.com and look under articles. all the best, Paula Change the World! www.BeautyWithPaula.com

Wow!
Your advice about skincare is great! I'm always rubbing my eyes and touching my face without realizing it. It sounds like you've met some incredible people and done amazing things. I would love to see that interview about the "fake-up". So interesting!

Biggest Skin Mistakes
Advise from an Ego Mechanic..... Paula Owen May 2007
QUESTION: What is the biggest mistake most women make when it comes to their skin?
Paula: Two things come to mind....
1st.. Often the woman I'm talking to starts to explain about some type of skin problem she's had. Nine times out of 10 she imediately puts her hands on her face. Please stop touching your skin! The amount of bacteria we have on our hands promotes blemishes, break-outs and many other problems. People tend to pull, push and drag the skin around their eyes and other areas of thier faces without mercy or a second thought. Adolescents really need to hear this message. Most aggravate thier skin problems and accelerate acne by attacking their blemishes (we've all done this and regretted it).Keep your skin as clean as possible and use gentle PH balanced toners with cotton pads 2 or 3 times a day. In the morning and evening wash with a gentle PH balanced liquid soap and rinse with 25 splashes of very warm water. Of course you get water all over the bathroom, but your skin will feel and look better for it.
Do a little test. Using your right index finger, tap your face. Now use your ring finger, feel the difference? It's as light as a butterfly! From this moment on, use your ring and middle fingers while applying concealers, base make-up and moisturizers. Gravity is hard enough on us as it is, please become aware of this. The Grand Canyon began from a small stream...... just think about how erosion works.
2nd big mistake... Repeated facial expressions create deep lines in the skin. My Mom has a habit of furrowing her brows. Everytime she talks about a "serious" subject she does it by frowning. Voice or body language could be used instead of this facial expression. Don't become a botox, blankfaced, stepford wife, but five, ten, fifteen years down the line it will make a big difference, sokeep smiling! A famous model from New York taught me this trick: When you are home alone place a peice of scotch tape on furrows or lines that may be begining. Call one of your girlfriends and start a conversation, you may be surprized at what you feel. Regular exfoliation on some of these areas can help turn the tables (be really careful around the eyes). Most importantly, use your hydrators and moisturizers on a daily basis to help plump up the cells in creases and fine lines. Maintenance is the key. Our lifespans are increasing, you have a long time to look great, so make the cause now and you'll enjoy the effect. Stay Gorgeous Longer!!!!
