Yves wrote the rules of ready-to-wear. The father to many a fashion staple, and arguably one of the most influential designers of our time, passed away last Sunday in Paris at the age of 71. YSL put women in pants and made it chic. He designed "Le Tuxedo" for women and made it sexy. He took couture and made it accessible. In sum, he left the world a more fashionable place. His legacy will live on, in our closet and yours. Here are a few remarkable looks from an unforgettable forty years in fashion.
